Screening of Cryoprotective Agents (CPA's) for EM Heating of Cryopreserved Biomaterials

Electric properties such as dielectric constant and dielectric loss were measured to analyze each CPA's potential for EM heating. These properties were measured using an electromagnetic resonant cavity.
To test the CPA samples, 10mL of the solution was prepared and frozen in a tank of liquid nitrogen to temperatures as low as -180°C. Once the samples reach a low enough temperature, they are moved to the resonant cavity for testing of their electric properties between the range of -150°C to 5°C.
